Building-by-Building Summary

Ellenzweig’s project documentation process includes the compilation of area totals per space type for every space in the building. The resulting data base of area totals per project enables the development of various kinds of benchmarking comparisons that may add insight to future projects: for instance, for research labs, the ratio of labs to lab support; for teaching labs, the ratio of teaching labs space to prep space; or the percentage of student break-out and collaboration space across a range of projects. This information is utilized to add context to evolving space programs and designs for new projects.

The project data also includes information on the cost of various building systems and energy usage by building system; these data points are also useful for providing benchmarking analyses among buildings.
