Area Allocation by Space Type

Ellenzweig’s programming and planning process includes an initial comparative analysis between the targeted client/institution and our national database of research lab space metrics per active bench researcher. These metrics include the Main Research Lab NSF/R, Support Lab NSF/R, and Research Group Size.

As the project develops, we dig deeper and analyze the active bench researcher workspace including wet and dry research bench space, research equipment and instrumentation space, and laboratory services.

The project data also includes information on the cost of various building systems and energy usage by building system; these data points are also useful for providing benchmarking analyses among buildings.
