BIM Systems for Minimized Field Clashes

Ellenzweig utilizes BIM-generated coordination and clash detection systems on all of our projects to enhance design and field coordination.  For MIT’s Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, Ellenzweig worked with William A. Berry & Son, Construction Managers (now Suffolk Construction) to engage rigorous electronic coordination and clash detection technology on this major research project; use of this technology was a pioneering endeavor for MIT.  Design, production, and construction efficiency were significantly enhanced by employing extensive BIM modeling, particularly on the most intensive intersections of architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.  As a result of this pioneering effort, no field changes were required during this project’s 33-month construction due to conflicts among architectural, structural, mechanical, plumbing, or other building systems.
