Construction begins on University of Maine’s Ferland Engineering Education and Design Center
Projects in Construction
The University of Maine held a virtual groundbreaking ceremony on April 28, 2020, to launch the construction of the Ferland Engineering Education and Design Center on the Orono campus. The 110,000 square foot academic and laboratory building—the largest capital project in the University’s history—will serve as the new home for the Department of Mechanical Engineering and the Biomedical Engineering Program. Also located in the building will be a Welcome Center for all prospective UMaine students. Consigli is the Construction Manager for the building, scheduled to open in the fall of 2022. Ellenzweig is the Design Architect and Laboratory Planner for the project, working in a close collaboration with WBRC Architects Engineers.
