Topping-Off Ceremony at MIT for the Albany Street Cogeneration Plant

Ellenzweig recently celebrated the steel topping-off ceremony of our new Albany Street Cogeneration Plant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with our design partner R.G. Vanderweil Power Group and the construction team. The 69,000 gsf, 40 Megawatt combined heat and power plant is located in a highly active, mixed-use environment on the MIT campus and will have a significant urban presence.

The street level program includes staff offices and a presentation/outreach facility. Sculptural air intakes, which are integral to the plant operations, add visual relief to the building façade; large window openings afford views into the working spaces. The sensitive landscape design enhances the streetscape at a major campus entry.

Construction completion is scheduled for 2020.
