Marinakis Hall STEM Building Opens at Massachusetts Maritime Academy
Last week, Ellenzweig team members Michael Lauber, FAIA, Neil Cahalane, AIA, Michael Nipoti, Peter Herman AIA NCARB CPHC, Jessie Zhe Lin, and Chris Hardy, LEED AP joined the Massachusetts Maritime Academy community and project partners to celebrate the completion of the new Marinakis Hall STEM Building at its ribbon cutting ceremony.
Designed to advance STEM education, the new facility provides modern science and engineering teaching spaces that provide the students with hands-on experience with advanced engineering and science instrumentation. Its all-electric design, integrated ground-source geothermal system, and high-performance building infrastructure supports a more sustainable campus.
“It’s so rewarding to see this building come to life, to see the cadets occupying the learning labs and spaces for collaboration, supporting their career goals in a wide variety of marine industries. The project is the result of an intense and highly productive collaboration among the Academy, the builder, Bond Brothers, DCAMM, the state oversight group and the design team, and shows that great things can emerge from this kind of team collaboration,” said Ellenzweig Principal Michael Lauber.
Congratulations to Massachusetts Maritime Academy and DCAMM on reaching this milestone. We also extend our gratitude to the faculty, staff, design and construction teams, and project partners whose collaboration brought this important facility to life. We’re proud to contribute to a space that will help prepare future generations of STEM leaders.
