The new Health Careers and Technology Building (HCTB) provides labs, classrooms, and offices for the College’s Health Professions departments.  The building is named in honor of Carol D. Eustis, who served as dean of CCBC’s School of Health Professions.  Health Profession Programs housed in the building include Nursing, Respiratory Therapy, Medical Imaging, Radiation Therapy, Radiography, Emergency Medical Technology, Physician Assistant, Massage Therapy, and Medical Laboratory Testing.  The building brings together all of these health science disciplines in a single, integrated facility that promotes collaboration and interprofessional interaction.

Highlights of the new building include an extensive, interdisciplinary simulation suite with computer-controlled mannequins that can model patient conditions and with spaces that can mimic various clinical environments, including emergency room, hospital patient rooms, and exam rooms; a home environment simulation lab for “real world” emergency response practice; debriefing rooms for students to view colleagues in simulation labs or their own performance; an Academic Conference Center with adaptable layouts for team-based learning with instructor-led broadcast capabilities; small spaces for students for individual and group study or supplemental instruction; and a faculty office suite.

Ellenzweig provided programming, lab planning, and design services for the project in the role of Design Architect and Lab Planner in a collaboration with GWWO, Architect of Record.
